The Hitchock Papers is happy to announce our first contest. Enter and win two tickets to one of Broadway’s biggest hits and currently its longest running comedy. Based on Alfred Hitchcock’s 1935 classic fim this is a show you will not want to miss.

BROADWAY’S LONGEST RUNNING COMEDY!

WINNER! 2 TONY AWARDS®!

“THE MOST ENTERTAINING SHOW ON BROADWAY!”
–Liz Smith, The New York Post

“ABSURDLY ENJOYABLE! THIS GLEEFULLY THEATRICAL RIFF ON HITCHCOCK’S FILM IS FAST AND FROTHY, PERFORMED BY A CAST OF FOUR THAT SEEMS LIKE A CAST OF THOUSANDS.”
–Ben Brantley, The New York Times

Mix a Hitchcock masterpiece with a juicy spy novel, add a dash of Monty Python and you have…(mystery chords!) THE 39 STEPS, Broadway’s most intriguing, most thrilling, most riotous, most UNMISSABLE comedy smash!  The mind-blowing cast of 4 plays over 150 characters in this fast-paced tale of an ordinary man on an extraordinarily entertaining adventure.

Seeking a frivolous night out at the theatre, Richard Hannay is lured into a world of intrigue by a mysterious woman claiming to be a spy. When she winds up dead in his flat, he flees London with the police hot on his trail.

THE 39 STEPS features a cast of four actors who, against all odds, breathlessly and hilariously attempt to reenact all of the characters, locations and famous scenes in Hitchcock’s 1935 film thriller with just a few props and a lot of theatrical ingenuity and split second quick changes.

A riotous blend of virtuoso performances and wildly inventive stagecraft, THE 39 STEPS amounts to an unforgettable evening of pure pleasure!

  1. Rear Window. Grace Kelly is marvelous and for once the heroine does all the work as our hero, James Stewart, is confined to his wheelchair. A masterful exposition of the plot, completely spellbinding. Only a master could pull it off.

So glad to learn about your site from Barista. Am a huge fan and am so glad to know that the passion is shared!

  2. Mr. & Mrs. Smith shows a whimsical side of Hitchcock while he continues to display a mastery of romance. Two sides of Hitchcock that people often forget. Making the audience laugh is a great gift and Hitchcock proved that he was well-rounded, not just physically, but also as a director.

  3. “he was well-rounded, not just physically, but also as a director.”
LOL, how true. Hitchcock’s films always have a lot of humor but Mrs and Mrs Smith was definitely his light side. Have you seen THE TROUBLE WITH HARRY? If not, you should check it out.

I have other Hitch reviews over at my other blog http://twentyfourframes.wordpress.com/ Check it out when you get a chance. Thanks Joan for your thoughts!!!
